4.1 Therapeutic indications
Treatment of external infections of the eyeball and appendages produced by germs sensitive to kanamycin or for any other situation in which a glucocorticoid-antibiotic combination is recommended: conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, corneal ulcer, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, dacryocystitis.
4.2 Posology and method of administration
KANAMICIN SULPHATE H, ophthalmic ointment: apply in the conjunctival sac 3-4 times a day.
4.3 Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to kanamycin, hydrocortisone or to any of the excipients.
Herpetic keratitis and other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, active corneal ulcer.
Fungal infections of the eyeball and appendages.
4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use
Prolonged local use of antibiotics may increase the resistance of microorganisms.
Prolonged repeated administration may result in significant systemic absorption of hydrocortisone. Prolonged use may cause glaucoma and / or cataracts. Prolonged treatment requires medical supervision and monitoring of intraocular pressure.
Prolonged use of glucocorticoids may promote fungal infections.
If no significant therapeutic results have been obtained after a relatively short period of time or if hypersensitivity reactions occur, discontinuation of treatment and re-evaluation of the treatment should be discontinued.
